One of the most fun things about this gig is learning about all the new fashion trends on the horizon. Today, Suze Yalof Schwartz of Glamour magazine was here for a segment on white shirts
. It's not news that white shirts are a wardrobe staple, but what I found interesting was how our models were accessorized. It's all about excess now.
Suze says if you have one piece of something, like a bracelet, take four more of the same and just pile it on. Even big thick wrist cuffs, like those shown in the photo above, are returning. In fact, if you have any old pieces from the 1980s, now is a great time to recycle them!
I think this is great news, because cuffs are my favorite kind of bracelet. (See the St. Croix hook on my left wrist? That's one piece of jewelry that I never take off — I've been wearing it for almost 14 years.) Bigger is also better for necklaces and earrings. So look for lots of that in the fall. Suze told me
piles of jewelry will be shown with not just solids, but prints as well. In her words, "minimalist is boring and dead!" So dig into your jewelry box and have a good old time.
